MEA Workshop: Risk Management & Business Relationships
This workshop takes a deep dive into two of the essential skills for delivering post-COVID events: business relationships and risk management.
Now, more than ever, developing strong business relationships is paramount.
Be it clients, suppliers, colleagues or contractors, communication skills are vital for networking, nurturing business relationships and securing sales. Even if it is not your core role, establishing and conducting business relationships, networking and negotiation are essential skills. We explore the foundations of effective networking and relationship building in online and offline environments, new approaches to creating customer loyalty and insights into effective sales processes including active listening. You will also learn how to manage stress and conflict in business relationships and how to negotiate for a win-win.
Beyond the foundation skills of communication, we all have a responsibility to also identify and manage risk. Beyond hazards, physical safety and WHS risks associated with events, we need to assess and control financial, social, cyber and reputational risk and understand the tools and insurances required to document and maintain high standards for compliance. This module covers working with venues including entry requirements for physical events, negotiating contracts and COVID clauses, registration, ticketing and your liability in relation to illness or cancellation of events in a post-COVID world.
If you attended previous PDs or webinars on sales, contract negotiation, legal and risk, or enjoyed these sessions at Evolve, this workshop digs deeper into these topics with both theory and practical skills plus an opportunity for a two-way conversation between yourself, MEA’s educator and industry professionals. The content is essential for event professionals and is aimed primarily at early-mid career professionals wanting to build on their experience.
The workshop is an intensive online program with a total 12 hours of "virtual face to face" training and some offline learning, over several days.
