COVID-19 Response
Since the first communication COVID-19, MEA has been providing support and assistance to members. We moved swiftly to connect with BECA, Government and other industry associations.
Over the last seven weeks, MEA has delivered seven webinars in direct response to COVID-19 providing valuable information and insights to assist you and help navigate your business through the crisis.
In the first week of announcements about COVID-19, MEA partnered with the EEAA to conduct industry exchanges and gain insight into how your businesses were being impacted. One of these sessions was held before a ban on gatherings was imposed by the government.
As a member of the Business Events Council of Australia (BECA), the MEA Board representatives have spent considerable time with our industry colleagues formulating a collective strategy for the Federal Government to consider.
MEA initiated an industry survey on behalf of BECA which generated over 1300 responses that clearly demonstrated the immediate decimation that COVID-19 made on businesses, our people and our industry. The survey results were analysed by McCrindle and were included as a core element of the Response and Recovery Framework that BECA presented to Federal Government. The submission includes a request for assistance to support the wellbeing of our workforce and businesses through the crisis so we can emerge together and shape and what will be a new world for business events.
MEA will continue to update you on engagement with the Federal Government through BECA’s activities.
The Board has been meeting extensively to consider how we deliver Evolve and other important elements of our service offerings to you during the coming months. Working groups have been formed from our Board and Branches across the country to formulate these plans for delivery and you will be hearing more from us very soon.
