Meet Erin Glackin - QLD 2021 Ungerboeck Winner

This week #HumansofMEA is profiling QLD 2021 Ungerboeck Winner, Erin Glackin, Events Executive at Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort. MEA asked Erin about her bucket list holiday destination ("Turkey!"),  a skill she'd like to develop ("self-confidence") and what kind of leader inspires her the most. 

1. What would your dream job be and why? 

Event Planner for a company like Vogue because of the level of events, the creativity that would go into them and the high exposure. 

2. It is 5 pm on a Friday – what is in your glass? 

A glass of red or gin, really just depends what type of week it has been! 

3. If you had a superpower, what would it be? 

Hmm, being able to fly, I could just be in any destination at any time. 

4. Name the number 1 place on your bucket list where you would like to travel to and why? 

Turkey! I would love to visit Cappadocia and hot air balloon over the dreamy scenery. 

5. What skill or ability would you like to develop and why? 

A skill I would like to develop more on would be self-confidence. In building on my self-confidence I would be able to pursue more ambitious goals and try new things. 

6. Name anything that makes a great meeting, event or conference stand out to you and why? 

The organisation that goes into the event/conference and communication between the organiser and business to ensure a smooth and successful event.

7. What is the one skill no one would know you had? 

I had to think about this one and to be honest it was extremely difficult. I would say… that I can go cross eyed haha? 

8. What is one important attribute of a successful leader who inspires you? 

An important attribute to me would be accountability. Being able to hold themselves accountable and take responsibility for their own mistakes and expecting others to do the same is inspiring. 

9. You are at an industry networking event. For first timers, what is your top tip on how to connect with people? 

My top tip would be to treat networking relationships as you would treat friendships so you are able to build a rapport. 

10. What is the current TV or Netflix series you are watching? 

The Bold Type on Stan, it is definitely one of my favourites. 

11. Where would you like to be 10 years from now? 

Living close to the beach with a job that makes me feel fulfilled and the ability to work flexible hours.

12. Where would we find you on the weekend? 

Walking my dog, out for breakfast, spending time with my family, partner & friends.
