Meet MEA's most recent Diploma of Event Management (SIT50316) Graduate!
MEA was thrilled to catch up with Kelly Hutchinson to chat with the newest graduate of its Diploma of Event Management program to ask her about her favourite topics, what she's looking forward to now that she's graduated, and to pass on any advice she has for those considering doing MEA's Diploma!
MEA: What did you learn during the Diploma of Event Management course?
Kelly: "I learnt how to make a thorough event plan, which includes specifying the goals of the event, setting a budget, choosing the location, and controlling suppliers and vendors."
MEA: What was your favourite topic?
Kelly: "I really enjoyed 'Develop Event Concepts'. It was fun to learn and create an event within a group without a budget in sight."
MEA: How will you use what you have learned in your current role?
Kelly: "There are many things that I will take away from completing this Diploma. Firstly, setting up Gantt charts for myself and community groups to use when planning an event and being more confident when taking on events and conferences, knowing that I now have the knowledge to succeed."
MEA: What are you most looking forward to now that you have the Diploma of Event Management qualification under your belt?
Kelly: "Using the skills gained in my current position at the Tatiara District Council. This was all very new to me so now I have the tools and confidence that I need to succeed in Event Management."
MEA: If you could give one piece of advice to those thinking about doing the course, what would you say?
Kelly: "The course is fantastic. Studying online sometimes can feel like you have no or little support, but MEA provides great support for its students."
