Meet one of MEA's newest graduates of the SIT50316 Diploma of Event Management - Kersti!
MEA was thrilled to catch up with Kersti Martin to chat with the newest graduate of its Diploma of Event Management program to ask her about her favourite topics, what she's looking forward to now that she's graduated, and to pass on any advice she has for those considering studying with MEA.
MEA: What did you learn during the SIT50316 Diploma of Event Management course?
Kersti: "How to ensure you have considered all aspects of your event, from event planning to risk management to budget management and evaluation and everything in between. Once you have these checklists in place no matter what type of event you are holding you can feel confident it can be successful as you now have the skills to deliver."
MEA: What was your favourite topic?
Kersti: "Develop and implement marketing strategies"
MEA: How will you use what you have learned in your current role?
Kersti: "From the very start I was able to share learnings with our team and it provided us with the confidence to deliver our first community event."
MEA: What are you most looking forward to now that you have the SIT50316 Diploma of Event Management qualification under your belt?
Kersti: "To have the skills and confidence to deliver a wide range of events, large and small."
MEA: If you could give one piece of advice to those thinking about doing the course, what would you say?
Kersti: "Plan your study time and set this aside to complete each module. It can be a couple of questions at a time or jump in and focus on completing a module over a weekend."
MEA: Do you have any further feedback about the Diploma or your experience?
Kersti: "It was a fantastic opportunity to complete the Diploma while working and have the flexibility to do this from home. The experience of the facilitators was exceptional and the mix of boot camp, one-to-one check-ins, individual assistance opportunities and digital learning worked well. Thank you to Jo, Nicky and the MEA Team for their time and for sharing their lived experience in the industry which made the learnings interesting and current. Thank you to Destination NSW for offering this Scholarship to help grow the events sector in NSW."
