In this week's #MEAExpress, Peter McDonald shared his thoughts on 'The Great Resignation' that is currently taking the US by storm, the relevance of Peter Allen's (The Boy from Oz) lyrics in 'Don't wish too hard' with those thinking of joining the masses, and his own experience with trying to find work in a cold, hard job market. 

"The grass isn’t always greener. If you’re planning to just up and leave your job, don’t assume there’s a queue of people waiting for that to happen so they can employ you. It’s said that people don’t leave jobs, they leave bosses...if there’s a job being advertised, there’s a reasonable chance that’s because someone else left it. If someone’s left it, they had a motivation to do it. People who are happy stay in their job."

Jo Halios-Lewis is a freelance Events Consultant with a background in corporate and higher education events, and she is MEA's newest Diploma of Event Management (SIT50316) graduate. MEA caught up with Jo to ask her what she found valuable about the program, what's she's most looking forward to now that she's done, and any advice she has for those interested in starting their Diploma journey.

In this week's MEA Express, Chairman Michael Firman recaps on his recent trip to Canberra to participate in an industry-led engagement with Senator the Hon Don Farrell, Minister for Trade and Tourism, and with government departments of Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), Tourism Research Australia (TRA), Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Tourism Australia.
